The reduction of the labia minora or labioplasty, is a remodeling of the enlarged inner lips of the vulva. Smaller lip augmentation may appear in childhood, but is often acquired by childbirth and age. It can disturb the patient in a functional way (when wearing clothes, when doing sport) or aesthetically. The procedure removes skin and mucosa in a way that scar almost does not go away.
The procedure usually lasts 1 hour.
For better results and comfort, the norm for this type of interventions is epidural anesthesia. However, some patients may choose local anesthesia.
Need for hospitalization
The patient may leave the clinic the same day after recovering from anesthesia.
Possible Side Effects
When a meticulous technique is applied, the procedure has no significant side effects.
Dehiscence of the wound, infection.
The area can remain for 2 weeks. You can go back to work. Sexual activity is allowed after 3 weeks.
